Goa Assembly Election 2022: Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco quits TMC within a month of joining the party
A month after quitting the Congress and joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC), former Goa MLA Alexo Reginaldo Lourenco on Sunday quit the Mamata Banerjee-led party. Assembly elections are going to be held in Goa on February 14. Lourenco was an MLA from Curtorim and working president of the Goa unit of the Congress when he resigned from the party and membership of the state assembly in December.
Lourenço has sent a letter to Banerjee informing her of his decision to leave the TMC, but he has not given any reason for leaving the party. Meanwhile, Michael Lobo, who joined the Congress from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), invited Lourenco to return to the Congress. Lourenço could not be reached for comment at this time.
On the other hand, On Leaving TMC of Alexo Reginaldo Lourenco, TMC's Lok Sabha MP in West Bengal and AITC Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra has said that 'AITC has received a letter from Alexo Reginaldo Lourenco resigning from the primary membership of the party. We welcomed him to the party because we have countless others. Now that he wants to leave, we wish him well.
Elections for 40 assembly seats in Goa will be held in a single phase on February 14. The counting of which will be done on March 10. At the same time, the assembly elections to be held in Goa this time are going to be very interesting. In which BJP and Congress are going to come face to face in a thorny contest, while Aam Aadmi Party and TMC can also be seen trying their luck.
